Bumps in the Road!
April 8, 2008 by kbennitt
Everyone knows that the road traveled is rarely smooth. So true is the path of the work at home mother. You will have days when you are sick, but your work still needs to get done and your child (or children) is still running around making disasters. There are times when your kids are ill and they want nothing but mom 24/7. And then comes the time when your work starts to take over and you need to find time to be mom. So far, I have been lucky. My son is growing up to be a polite and caring young man who is rarely ill. My work has been steady and has rarely conflicted with the needs of my son. However a pot hole is now square in my path and I have to find a way to move it.
That is what being a mother is all about. Moving the rocks and filling in the potholes before they become problems. So how do I fill in this crater before it causes damage? I ask for help! That’s right. The simplest thing in the world and the best resource us women have is our communication skills. We talk like no other. Just ask any guy on the street. So now I ask, how do I go about finding a nanny/care-giver for my son who speaks German and will work for peanuts? An Aupair would be great, but let’s face it if I could afford one I would have one already. What I need is another mother who can help me out two to three mornings a week in trade for two to three afternoons a week. So where to start my search? That is the question of the night…If you have suggestions please submit them here.
Also, if you know of someone looking for a good VA job, send me a note. The company I work with is hiring!
In life we are given a choice: Help ourselves, or help others. I choose both!

I couldn’t agree more to ask for help. Why is it so hard though? It seems everyone I know has mojor issues (divorce, new baby, full time nursing student, and moving with medical problems) in their life and so I don’t feel right about asking for help.
I do suggest asking a stay at home Mom for trading. Stay at home moms are so taxed and usually have little money. A trade might work out great for a stay at home mom.
